Brilio.net - Lice are pests that can contaminate various foods including wheat flour, not just rice. These insects are very annoying because of their ability to lay eggs in large numbers every day. The rapid breeding of lice can fill the entire wheat flour in just a few weeks.
Improper storage is the main cause of the appearance of weevils in wheat flour . Weevils can easily contaminate flour that is stored carelessly in the kitchen. Therefore, good storage methods are an important key in preventing weevil infestation in food ingredients.
Low quality flour also affects the ease of lice contamination. This experience was shared by YouTube user mom Daniel chanel who found her unbranded wholesale flour was infested with lice in just one week of storage. The thin plastic packaging on low-quality flour also makes it easier for lice to enter and breed.

"Sometimes I buy a few kilos from wholesalers, but after a week at home, it quickly becomes infested with weevils. That's probably because it's not put in thick packaging. This packaging is in small containers like this, so weevils from the flour quickly get in," said YouTube mom Daniel Chanel.
Flour contaminated with lice is often considered unfit for consumption by many people. This condition causes many people to choose to throw away flour that has been infected with lice. However, unlike most people, YouTube user mom Daniel chanel still uses the flour because she considers the quality to be still good and has not passed its expiration date.
"It's not actually expired. It doesn't smell (musty), it just has bugs," explained YouTube mom Daniel Chanel, quoted by BrilioFood on Monday (28/10).
But before it is ready to be used, the weevils in the flour must be eradicated first. The way to eradicate them is actually simple, just prepare a container and a thin flour sieve (sifter). Then place the sieve on top of the container.

After that, put the flour into a sieve. Sift the flour to separate the lice and other insects. Because, this flour is often a nest for other insects such as maggots and small beetles. Well, this sifting process will help separate these insects.
When all the flour has been sifted, remove the weevils that are in the sieve. Don't forget to check the results of the sieve. If there are still weevils, take them and throw them away.

Finally, put the sifted flour into a plastic bag. Make sure the plastic used is thicker and stronger. Or you can put it in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator to make it safer. This will help prevent lice from re-contaminating the flour.
