Brilio.net - Tofu is known as a food ingredient that is rich in vegetable protein and has high nutritional value. This food ingredient can be processed into various delicious dishes with processing methods such as frying, stir-frying, or steaming. The popularity of tofu is supported by its delicious taste and soft texture.
The variety of tofu types such as white tofu, Bandung tofu, Chinese tofu, and pong tofu provide various choices for consumers. The characteristics of tofu that are easy to process and nutritious make it a food ingredient that is often stored as stock at home. Tofu is generally stored in the refrigerator to extend its shelf life.
The method of storing tofu does not always have to use a refrigerator because there are alternative methods that can be done at room temperature. The right storage technique can maintain the quality of tofu without changing the taste and texture. This method of storing tofu at room temperature has been demonstrated by the YouTube channel Umi Zaadan's Kitchen.
In one of his YouTube videos, he gives a tutorial on how to store tofu so that it lasts long even without putting it in the refrigerator. First, put the tofu in a pan. Add water until the entire surface of the tofu is submerged.

Move the pan to the stove, turn on medium heat and boil the tofu. Make sure you boil the tofu for the right amount of time, okay? Because if it's too long, the tofu can actually get destroyed later.
"Boil until boiling for 15 minutes. So 15 minutes is counted from when the water boils," he said as quoted by BrilioFood from YouTube Umi Zaadan's Kitchen, Monday (28/10).

After boiling for 15 minutes, turn off the heat. Let the tofu soak overnight in the boiling water.

Once soaked overnight, drain the water. Simply drain the tofu without rinsing it with plain water. Arrange the tofu on a container or bowl.

Finally, pour boiling water over the tofu. Soak the tofu in this hot water while it is stored at room temperature. And make sure you regularly change the water used to soak the tofu.
"Do this every day. So, every morning, you can throw away the soaking water and replace it with boiling water," he said further.

When it is going to be used, tofu can be taken directly and processed according to taste. Easy to imitate, right? By storing it like this, tofu is guaranteed to last a long time.
"Tofu will last for days or even more than a week. As long as the water used to soak it is really boiling water," he said.
Having been watched almost 10 thousand times, the comments column on the upload was flooded with responses from netizens. Many netizens are enthusiastic about trying this method of storing tofu without a refrigerator.
