Brilio.net - Fish has become a popular side dish because of its delicious taste and high nutritional value. Based on information from the kemkes.go.id page, fish contains various important nutrients such as omega fatty acids, iodine, selenium, fluoride, iron, magnesium, zinc, taurine, and coenzyme Q10. The omega-3 content in fish is even higher than other animal protein sources such as beef and chicken.
The ease of obtaining fish in markets and supermarkets at affordable prices makes it a popular consumption choice in Indonesia. The process of processing fish is relatively simple because it only requires marinating and frying stages. Fried fish can be served immediately after the frying process is complete.
The main challenge in the process of frying fish is the fishy smell produced by the cooking oil or the fish. This fishy smell can disturb the comfort of the person who is cooking and the people around them. Adding sliced ginger to the cooking oil is a common solution, although it must sacrifice whole ginger which can actually be used as a spice.
An alternative method to remove the fishy smell when frying fish can be done in a more efficient way. The use of certain kitchen dregs has proven effective in overcoming this problem. This method only requires one type of kitchen waste to get optimal results.

An Instagram user @indah3yuni shared her trick for frying fish so it doesn't smell fishy. You can apply this method when frying fish at home.
First, to make the fish easy to process, cut and separate the head and body of the fish. Reported by BrilioFood from the Instagram account @indah3yuni on Friday (1/11), the ingredients prepared are lime peel. After using the juice, lime peel is usually thrown away and ends up as kitchen dregs. Who would have thought, this kitchen dregs can actually overcome the fishy smell when you are frying fish, you know.
Now, after the fish is cut, wash the fish pieces until clean. Next, marinate with spices according to taste. Then, prepare hot oil on the stove. Once hot, put the fish and lime peel pieces together.

During the frying process, it turns out that orange peel that is put into hot oil can absorb the fishy smell from the fish.
When it is cooked, remove and drain the fish along with the orange peel that was fried. The orange peel will immediately wilt and turn brown, while the fish is fried perfectly without causing a fishy smell that spreads in the kitchen.
Well, that's the trick to frying the kitchen without the fishy smell spreading. The method is quite easy, isn't it? The ingredients are also very simple, only using lime peel. Now, instead of throwing it in the trash, you can use lime peel to fry fish.
