Wooden cutting boards are usually used for cutting various cooking ingredients. If you don't clean it regularly, mold will grow on the surface of the wooden cutting board. This can be seen from the surface of the wooden cutting board which is covered in black spots. Apart from looking dirty, mold will also contaminate the food on the cutting board.

Knowing this, a number of people immediately rubbed the entire surface of a wooden cutting board using a citrus solution. After rubbing for a while, all the fungus faded and even disappeared by itself. Even so, not everyone is suitable for using citrus solutions. How to care for a wooden cutting board so that it is free from germs and unpleasant odors.

Caring for a wooden cutting board so that it is free from germs and unpleasant odors requires several regular maintenance steps. Here are some tips for caring for wooden cutting boards.

1. Wash with liquid soap.

After use, wash the wooden cutting board with liquid soap and warm water. Scrub the surface with a sponge or soft brush to remove food debris and bacteria.

2. Dry well.

Make sure the wooden cutting board is completely dry after washing. Do not let cutting boards sit in water, as moisture can cause the growth of mold and bacteria.

3. Use bleach.

Periodically, you can use a very dilute bleach solution to clean wooden cutting boards. Mix bleach with water in the right ratio and apply to the surface of the cutting board. Make sure to rinse it with clean water afterwards.

4. Use vinegar.

Vinegar is a natural cleaning agent that can kill germs and remove unpleasant odors. Mix vinegar with water in a 1:1 ratio, then spray or wipe it onto the surface of the cutting board. Leave it for a few minutes before rinsing with clean water.

5. Use wood oil.

After washing and drying a wooden cutting board, apply food-safe wood oil to the surface. Wood oil will help keep the wood moist, prevent cracks, and also provide a layer of protection from bacteria.

6. Don't let it nest.

Make sure wooden cutting boards are stored in a dry, open-air place after washing and drying. Do not leave it submerged in water or stored in damp conditions which can trigger the growth of mold and bacteria.

7. Regular maintenance.

Perform this maintenance regularly to keep wooden cutting boards clean and free from germs and unpleasant odors.

By maintaining your wooden cutting board regularly with these steps, you can ensure that the kitchen tool remains hygienic and safe to use.
