Brilio.net - When cooking time is limited, many people turn to instant food as a quick alternative. Instant food, including sardines, is a practical choice that is often stored at home. Sardines are not only delicious, but also rich in nutrients. According to webmd.com, a can of sardines contains various important nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, omega-3, and vitamins D, B12, and E.
Sardines have a wide culinary potential. In addition to being processed in simple ways such as stir-frying, sardines can also be created into various interesting dishes . Some examples include sardine-filled croquettes, sardine seblak, and various innovative sardine stir-fries.
Although sardines have many advantages, there are still people who are reluctant to process them. This is not because the taste is not good, but because of the fishy smell that is sometimes disturbing. To overcome this problem, some people add sliced ginger to sardine dishes. This technique has proven effective in reducing the fishy smell, allowing more people to enjoy the nutritional benefits of sardines without being disturbed by the smell.
But don't worry if you don't have any ginger at home. Because it turns out there is another way to cook sardines so that they don't smell fishy without needing sliced ginger. This method is demonstrated by YouTube user Dapur RDA. In the video released by BrilioFood on Friday (11/10), first prepare two clean bowls to separate the fish and sardine sauce.

Then heat the cooking oil in a pan, then saute the sliced garlic, shallots, and cayenne pepper. Stir and fry until wilted and give off a fragrant aroma.

When the spices are cooked enough and fragrant, add the sardine sauce that was prepared earlier. Cook with a low stove flame and stir constantly so that it does not burn.
"Add a little boiled water, then cook until it reduces and the sauce thickens," he explained.

Don't forget to add seasonings such as salt and powdered broth to it, then stir until evenly distributed. If the sauce has thickened, then add the fish in the first bowl.
"Stir slowly so that the sardines do not break up. This way, it is guaranteed that there will be no more fishy smell," he explained further.

To make it look more attractive, add sliced spring onions and then cook the sardines until boiling. Once boiling, turn off the stove and the sardines are ready to be served.
