Vegetable fritters are one type of fried food that is very popular in Indonesia and is loved by many people. This fried food has a crispy texture on the outside but soft on the inside, with a mixture of various vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, and spring onions that provide a savory and fresh taste. Vegetable fritters are often served as snacks, as a side dish with rice, or even as a practical and filling breakfast menu.
One of the main attractions of vegetable fritters is the ease of making them and the many variations of ingredients that can be used. However, there is one main ingredient that is commonly used in making vegetable fritters, namely flour. In addition to binding all the ingredients, flour also functions as a crispy substance in the fritters.
But it is important to note that using the wrong amount of flour will make the fritters soft and oily. Therefore, many people add other ingredients, such as baking soda, cooking oil, or even a special type of flour to make the fritters crispy.
In fact, instead of using a lot of additional ingredients, you can make vegetable fritters with just one type of flour. As shown by YouTube user Haluwa's kitchen. Through her video upload, she shared a trick for making vegetable fritters using only wheat flour. Even so, the fritters can be crispy and not mushy.
As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Haluwa's kitchen on Saturday (28/9), the first thing to do is to grind 1/4 tsp of pepper, 3 cloves of garlic, 5 shallots, and salt to taste. After that, set aside these ground spices first. After that, in a container, mix the vegetables consisting of a handful of bean sprouts, 1 sliced carrot, 1/4 sliced cabbage, and 2 stalks of spring onions. Also add the ground spices. Then, add 12 tbsp of flour which is added gradually.
