Brilio.net - Beef kikil is the target of many people when they are bored of eating meat. The chewy texture of gravel and its savory taste are truly appetizing. Kikil can be cooked into various delicious menus, for example satay, curry, oseng-oseng, even soup.
However, before cooking, usually the gravel must be processed first so that it is free of mucus. Usually, people do this by squeezing the gravel pieces with salt. Salt is believed to be effective in removing mucus or fishy odors from gravel . After kneading the salt, the gravel is boiled so that the texture is not tough.
For those of you who don't want to use the method of squeezing gravel using salt, don't worry because there are still other alternative tricks. One of the tricks was shared by YouTube user Rayyan Al Ghazali. After all, this trick only requires three kitchen ingredients.
First, prepare a pan filled with water and heat it over medium heat until it boils. Then, put the gravel pieces that have been washed clean into the boiling water. Next, add salt, peeled and crushed ginger, and lemon or lime juice.
Yup, those are the three main kitchen ingredients to practice this gravel boil trick. Salt and ginger will function to remove the smell of the gravel and speed up the texture of the gravel so it becomes soft. Meanwhile lemon or lime helps remove mucus from gravel.

After all the ingredients are added, cover the pan and continue the boiling process for a few minutes.
"Boil the kikil for approximately 10 minutes counting from (when) the water boils again," emphasized YouTube account owner Rayyan Al Ghazali, quoted by BrilioFood on Thursday (20/6).
After boiling for 10 minutes, turn off the heat on the stove and remove the kikil. The gravel must be rinsed again under running water. YouTube account owner Rayyan Al Ghazali explained, while rinsing, don't forget to stir and squeeze the gravel so that the results are really rough and clean.
