Brilio.net - Chicken feet are one of the food ingredients that can be processed into various delicious menus, from savory soup to spicy feet coated with special spices. Its chewy texture with high collagen content makes feet popular as a snack or side dish with rice. Not only delicious, feet are also rich in nutrients that are good for skin and joint health.
However, one of the challenges in processing chicken feet is its tough texture if not cooked properly. Chicken feet have a lot of connective tissue that requires a long cooking time to become soft and easy to consume. An improper boiling process can make chicken feet remain hard and less delicious when eaten.
To get soft and tender results, many people choose to boil the feet for a long time or use a pressure cooker so that the cooking process is faster. But the problem is not only in the texture, the fishy smell of the feet is also quite disturbing. Therefore, the feet need to be boiled with a special trick.
Luckily, a YouTube user Yeni Nurkholifah once shared a simple trick in boiling chicken feet. Through one of the videos she uploaded, she admitted that she only used a regular pan when she wanted to boil the chicken feet. Even so, the chicken feet can still be perfectly tender and free from fishy odor, you know.
As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Yeni Nurkholifah on Thursday (23/1), there are several special ingredients and techniques that need to be applied in this boiling process. According to YouTube user Yeni Nurkholifah, she will add spices, such as ginger, galangal, turmeric, salt, lime leaves, and bay leaves. On the other hand, the boiling technique uses the 5.30.7 method.

Next, boil the feet together with the spices for 5 minutes starting from when the water boils. After that, turn off the stove and let it sit for 30 minutes with the pan covered. Then turn the stove back on and boil for 7 minutes, starting from when the water boils again. So, the total boiling time is only 12 minutes.
" Boiling chicken feet using this method automatically saves gas ," said YouTuber Yeni Nurkholifah.

Well, the feet that have been boiled with this technique will immediately be soft and tender. Indeed, basically, the 5.30.7 boiling method is known to be very effective in making chicken feet tender. The reason is the gradual heating and sufficient resting time, so that the connective tissue in the feet can soften perfectly without breaking it.
The result is chicken feet that are soft, tender, but still have a bit of chewiness that is delicious when chewed, without the need to use a pressure cooker or cook for too long.
