Brilio.net - Tempe mendoan is a type of fried food that is very popular with many people. This dish is not only delicious to eat directly, but also suitable as a side dish with warm rice.

The process of making mendoan begins with slicing tempeh into thin sheets. These tempeh slices are then dipped into a batter consisting of a mixture of flour, water, and various spices. Some people add baking powder to the batter to maintain the crispiness of the mendoan longer.

However, for those who do not have baking powder at home, there is still an alternative to make delicious tempeh mendoan. A YouTube user named Nuraaini Soewarto, has shared a recipe and tutorial for making crispy and appetizing tempeh mendoan without using baking powder. This method offers a solution for those who want to enjoy crispy tempeh mendoan but do not have the raising agent.

As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Nuraaini Soewarto, Monday (30/9), thinly slice the tempeh that will be processed first. This thin shape will make the texture of the mendoan later crispier when eaten.

Once done, prepare the flour mixture. Add 100 grams of flour, 1 egg, finely ground garlic, 1 tablespoon of coriander, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of powdered flavoring, turmeric powder, water, and celery. Stir until everything is evenly mixed.

Not only that, also prepare the kriuk dough. Put 3 tablespoons of wheat flour, 3 tablespoons of rice flour, 125 ml of coconut milk, 1/2 teaspoon of powdered flavoring, water, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt into a bowl. Stir again until the dough is ready.

If all the flour dough is ready, first put the crispy dough into the hot cooking oil. Wait a few moments until the crispy dough becomes half cooked and floats on the surface of the cooking oil.

"Just use a small stove flame so it doesn't burn," he explained.

Once done, put the tempeh slices that have been dipped in the other flour mixture. Wait a few moments until the tempeh sticks with its crunch.

"Once it's dry, the mendoan can be turned over so it cooks evenly," he said.

Remove the tempeh mendoan when both sides are golden brown. Drain until the oil content drops.
