Turmeric has a natural yellow pigment known as curcumin. This pigment can quickly stick to the skin, so it can leave marks that are difficult to remove. Although this yellow color is not dangerous, it can certainly interfere with appearance, especially if the stains do not disappear for a long time.

It is natural to have difficulty cleaning your hands from turmeric stains, because it is not enough to just use water and regular soap. In fact, some cleaning methods such as rubbing with soap too hard do not completely remove stains . Instead of being clean, skin that is rubbed too hard can actually be irritated.

Indeed, basically, it takes a special trick to overcome the yellow stains that come from turmeric. One way that is often used by many people is to apply toothpaste to the stained area. After investigating, this toothpaste can dissolve turmeric stains on hands well.

But besides toothpaste, there are other ingredients that are no less effective in removing turmeric stains on hands. This ingredient was once used by Instagram user @lafina_indonesia through one of the videos uploaded. She admitted to only relying on one kitchen ingredient.

As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @lafina_indonesia on Thursday (15/8), the kitchen ingredient in question is baking soda. Basically, baking soda has alkaline properties that can react with curcumin, the yellow pigment in turmeric. This reaction helps break down the curcumin molecule, making it easier to wash or remove with water.

Looking at the comments column, there is a netizen who also gave a direct response. "Can it be used to remove sap stains, Mom? Like pumpkin sap, or potato sap, like that. Yesterday I peeled 2kg of potatoes, the stains didn't go away even after washing my hands with citric acid," asked the Instagram account @nocq.sholihah. "As for sap, Mba Yemi once got jackfruit sap Buuun. Just rub cooking oil on your hands and then wash your hands normally with water and soap. The sap immediately disappears Buuun. Maybe you can try this too, Mom, to remove pumpkin or potato sap," replied Instagram user @lafina_indonesia.
