Brilio.net - Frying pans are one of the most popular cooking utensils throughout Asia, including Indonesia. From the past until now, many people still rely on woks when cooking because they are durable, heat resistant and cheap. Almost all cooking processes can be done with a frying pan , from frying, sauting, to boiling food.

Seeing the high demand for woks, many manufacturers make woks with various types and materials. Even so, there are also those who still rely on old-school woks to cook various daily menus. Old school woks are a type of traditional wok that have been used from generation to generation for years.

For some people, old-school woks tend to be more comfortable to use and are thought to produce tastier food. This experience was shared by a woman named Nor Halimah. Through her personal TikTok account, Nor Halimah shared a video tutorial on cooking fried eggs.

As reported by BrilioFood on Wednesday (26/6), the woman did not use a modern stove like kitchen content creators in general. Interestingly, he still cooks using a stove and firewood. The kitchen also looks old school like in a village.

But behind it all, there is one thing that makes netizens focus wrong, namely on the frying pan used. In the video, Nor Halimah uses an old concave-shaped frying pan to cook fried eggs. This frying pan is placed on a stove where the fire is burning quite big.

Different from old school frying pans in general, the TikTok user's frying pan looks very jet black. Even the pan handles on the right and left are the same black. After investigating, the black stain on the pan was a very thick crust.

Even though it looked black, Nor Halimah continued the cooking process as usual. In the pan, there is hot oil ready to be used. Nor Halimah then put the fried egg in it and fried it until cooked.

The appearance of this black frying pan immediately attracted the attention of netizens, so the video has been watched more than 2 million times since it was uploaded on June 15. It was so jet black that many other TikTok users thought that the frying pan came from ancient times.

"That's a frying pan left by Ken Arok, right sis?" wrote the TikTok account @amoychan02 connecting the shape of the frying pan to the era of the founder of the Singasari Kingdom, Ken Arok.

"This is what Ken Dedes used to cook Ken Arok fried egg," explained TikTok @bujanglampung2.

"A frying pan left over from the Roro Jonggrang era," said TikTok @devi.febriianty.

"Why are Adam and Eve still using frying pans," commented the TikTok account @anita.manurung.

"Megalithic frying pan," wrote the account @DepGultom

Not just joking about frying pans left over from ancient times. There are also netizens who think the wok is a nekara, a war drum and a tool for the inauguration ceremony of kings in Southeast Asia in 1,000 BC.

"It's not a frying pan, guys, but it's nekara," said TikTok @blue_sugarcane.

So, in your opinion, is this a frying pan or not?
