Brilio.net - Home vegetable lovers must love chayote dishes. This vegetable is known to be delicious and goes well with various side dishes. Chayote also has many health benefits. One of the important nutrients in chayote is the antioxidant myricetin.
According to healthline.com, consuming chayote can help maintain heart health, control blood sugar, lower cholesterol, overcome inflammation, and fight free radicals.
Usually, chayote is processed into stir-fries or soups. However, chayote can also be served as a salad. If you are bored with the same old salad, try eating chayote. To make the texture softer and tastier, boil the chayote first before serving it as a salad.
There is a special technique for boiling chayote. If boiled directly until cooked, the color can turn pale and brownish. A netizen named Desyanti shared a trick for boiling chayote so that it remains beautiful in color and perfectly cooked.
Prepare the chayote first. Desyanti is known to use baby chayote, so the size is smaller than regular chayote. The chayote can be peeled first or not. However, make sure the chayote is washed thoroughly before boiling.

Heat the water in a saucepan over medium heat until it boils. Then add all the whole chayote that you want to boil. Cook for five minutes, then turn off the heat immediately. Cover the pan containing the boiled chayote and let it sit for 30 minutes.

After letting it sit, boil the chayote again over medium heat for seven minutes. After seven minutes and the heat is turned off, cover the pan again and let it sit for a while to help the chayote cook through but not change color.

Well, before serving, the chayote can be moved to another container. After investigation, moving the chayote after boiling is to reduce the heat and stop the cooking process.
"Lift the chayote, put it in cold water at room temperature," explained Desyanti, quoted by BrilioFood from YouTube Desyanti Lembang, Monday (21/10).
Boiled chayote is ready to be eaten with various chili sauces, warm rice, and favorite side dishes. So, are you interested in processing chayote like this or prefer to cook it into other creative dishes?
The upload about boiled chayote on Desyanti Lembang's YouTube account received various responses from netizens. Not a few were curious whether it was delicious if chayote was eaten directly with its skin. This upload has also been watched up to four thousand times.
"Is it delicious eaten with the skin? I've seen some people eating it with the skin," said YouTuber Melly Siska.
"Why don't we discuss this first?" asked YouTube Nurul Rahmawati.
