The farewell event between President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace on Sunday, October 20, 2024, was prepared with an appetizing lunch menu . The main menu served was lontong kikil, dimsum, and various market snacks that would definitely pamper the guests' tongues.
"Today there are lontong kikil, dimsum, and market snacks," said Algamar, Director of Operation Food & Beverage Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), while providing information at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta.
He added that all preparations for the farewell event were ready and running smoothly. "We have prepared everything, we are ready," he said.
Algamar explained that each room will be guarded by two chefs and a number of waiters ready to serve. The banquet will be provided in two separate locations, namely the presidential lounge and the presidential office. "There are two of each room. There are 6 waiters on standby," he added.
The farewell agenda is planned to take place at 14.00 WIB. In addition, in the evening there will be a gala dinner held by President Prabowo Subianto. "If the gala dinner later his team will be there again," said Algamar.
Jokowi will welcome the arrival of the President-elect for the 2024-2029 period, Prabowo Subianto, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, after being officially inaugurated on the same afternoon. At the same time, Prabowo will see off Jokowi, the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, who will return to Solo, Central Java.
The farewell event was held after Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming were inaugurated as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia at the DPR/MPR Building in the morning. A number of preparations have been made, including setting up three videotrons at strategic points around Jalan Merdeka Utara, Merdeka Palace, which will broadcast the farewell event.
A large red carpet has also been rolled out in front of the Palace stairs, while two tents have been set up on the right and left sides in front of the Merdeka Palace for invited guests. Congratulatory flower arrangements for Prabowo-Gibran also adorn the Jakarta Presidential Palace area.
After stepping down, Jokowi and First Lady Iriana will return to their hometown in Solo, Central Java. Jokowi stated that he will not hold a special event for his return. "Yes, just go home, go home by plane, get off, then go home, that's it," explained Jokowi.
The General Chair of the Pro Jokowi Volunteers (ProJo), Budi Arie Setiadi, confirmed that Jokowi will fly using a commercial plane from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, East Jakarta, with the flight scheduled at 15:00 WIB. "That's right. Taking a commercial plane from Halim. October 20 at 15:00," said Budi Arie.
Jokowi will most likely use a Citilink commercial aircraft to return to Solo. Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia does not have a Halim-Adi Soemarmo route. "If I'm not mistaken (the aircraft) is Citilink or Garuda," said Budi Arie.
As we know, President Joko Widodo took office on October 20, 2014 and was re-elected in the 2019 presidential election. His term of office will end on October 20, 2024, and Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be inaugurated as president and vice president for the 2024-2029 period on the same day.
