Brilio.net - Durian is often nicknamed the 'King of Fruit' because of its distinctive taste and aroma. This fruit, which is popular in Southeast Asia, has thick flesh with a soft texture. However, the thickness and taste of each durian can be different depending on the variant.

Well, the many varieties of durian make this one often sought after by people from all over the world so they can taste it. In fact, many people are willing to spend a lot of money to be able to eat high grade durian fruit, such as musang king.

Musang king is a rare type of durian that has a delicious taste. Its chewy, sweet and soft flesh makes this durian much sought after. Unfortunately, amidst high demand, the supply of this type of durian is very low because it is difficult to care for. As a result, Musang King durian is often sold at high prices, reaching IDR 300 thousand to IDR 1 million.

But you know what? Recently a new type of durian was discovered which is considered to be able to compete with Musang King, namely Tupai King. This type of durian was once exhibited by a durian seller from Penang, Malaysia. The durian seller named Brian Ong uploaded the moment he tasted the king squirrel durian on the Buza Biz Facebook account.

"Today we are making a review about king squirrel. Many people are curious about the king squirrel durian. For me, this king squirrel has many characteristics," said Brian Biz, quoted by BrilioFood from Facebook Buza Biz on Thursday (18/7).

Furthermore, Brian Biz showed a fairly large durian with bright yellow flesh. He admitted that the king squirrel durian does have rather large flesh and the seeds tend to be small. On the other hand, the skin of the king squirrel durian does not break easily compared to durian in general.

In a video uploaded on July 12, this durian seller then took a durian that had been cut in half. When pressed, the durian fruit looks thick and fatty. A moment later, he then tasted the durian fruit.

"The aroma is thick like civet and the contents are a bit sticky. There is bitterness, but the seeds are not like civet. In terms of quality characteristics, the taste is a little like civet. And in terms of aroma, it is legit," he explained further.

Apart from its distinctive aroma, taste and texture, the king squirrel durian also weighs around 3 kg. This makes this type of durian even more special. Especially if you add to that the production is very limited compared to other types of durian.

With these limitations, king squirrel durian is sold at a high price, namely 600 RM to 1,000 RM (Malaysian Ringgit) on the market. If converted into rupiah, this amount is equivalent to IDR 2 million to IDR 3.5 million for one durian. What a fantastic nominal value for a durian, isn't it?

In Malaysia itself, the Tupai King durian was officially registered in February 2024 as a new type of durian. With the hope, this durian can match the popularity of Musang King in terms of taste. Even so, the distribution of the Tupai King durian is currently still limited, namely in Malaysia and Singapore.
