Brilio.net - Rice is a staple food for Indonesian people. Many people feel like they haven't eaten if they haven't eaten rice. Whatever the side dishes and vegetables, it will be more delicious if eaten with rice.
The most practical way to cook rice is to use a rice cooker. This electronic device is now a mainstay for many people to cook rice. Just by pressing the cook button, the rice can cook itself without the need to stir.
In addition to cooking rice, rice cookers are also often used as a place to store rice. Rice cookers can keep rice warm and free from pests and dust.
However, rice stored in a rice cooker tends to dry out easily. This is because the walls of the rice cooker pan are constantly hot, causing the rice grains that stick to it to dry out. The longer it is stored, the rice grains can become crusty, making the rice cooker pan difficult to clean.
In fact, this problem can actually be prevented. With a simple trick, rice can be stored safely without worrying about it becoming dry and crusty.
This trick was shared by YouTube user Dapur Bu Elly. Through one of the uploaded YouTube Shorts videos, she admitted to only relying on one simple tool to prevent crust from forming. As reported by BrilioFood on Friday (13/9), the tool is a thin plastic spatula.
So after the rice is cooked, do not immediately open the rice cooker. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes to remove the remaining water from the cooking process. After that, unplug the power cord and not the rice cooker.

Immediately stir the cooked rice. Use the plastic spatula to stir. Then scrape the edge of the rice cooker pan with the spatula to lift the rice grains that are still stuck.

Collect the rice grains in the middle of the rice cooker pan. It is best not to let any rice grains stick to the edge of the rice cooker pan. That way, there is no dry and crusty rice.

Well, so that the rice can last longer, you can cover the rice cooker pan with a clean cloth. It is better to avoid closing the rice cooker directly because later the remaining water vapor will fall back onto the rice. This will make the rice go stale quickly later.
No need to worry if you want to eat warm rice. You can re-insert the rice cooker cable into the electrical socket. Then let it sit for a while until the rice is warm again. That way, the rice is ready to eat.
