Brilio.net - In the daily lives of Indonesian people, cooking rice is an activity that is inseparable from the eating routine. Rice, as the main source of carbohydrates, is usually served with side dishes and vegetables to form a complete meal.

Nowadays, many people switch to using rice cookers to cook rice because of its practicality. This tool makes it easy to cook rice by simply putting in the rice and water according to the measurements, then pressing the 'cook' button. In a short time, the rice will be cooked and ready to eat.

Although practical, the use of rice cookers is not free from several problems. One of them is rice that quickly smells bad in a matter of hours. The causes can vary, from the type of rice to the wrong amount of water when cooking.

Some people try to solve this problem by experimenting. Some add lime juice or garlic to the rice, hoping to produce a more fragrant aroma. However, this method is often ineffective because the additional aroma is only smelled on the surface of the rice, not absorbed into the inside.

To create rice that is fragrant throughout, a special technique is needed. There are certain ways that can be done to ensure that the fragrance of the rice is evenly distributed throughout the inside, resulting in delicious rice in every mouthful.

One YouTube user named Lisna dewy once shared the trick. Instead of using lime or garlic, the channel owner uses pandan leaves to add a fragrant aroma to the rice. However, these pandan leaves are not simply put into the rice that will be cooked.

As reported by BrilioFood on Friday (11/10), the pandan leaves used need to be boiled first in water. The water used is also boiled water or water that is usually used to cook rice. First, prepare the pandan leaves that have been cut and washed clean, then boil the pandan leaves in a pan until boiling.

While waiting, wash the rice that will be cooked. Wash it until it is really clean several times. In the video, Lisna admitted to washing the rice up to three times so that the dirt was gone.

Next, pour the boiled pandan water into the rice that has been washed clean. The amount of water can be adjusted to the portion of rice to be cooked. After that, spread it evenly by shaking the rice cooker pan. Do it carefully because the water used is hot.

Then put the rice in the rice cooker and cook as usual. Well, the boiled pandan leaves water will make the rice more fragrant until it seeps into the inside. In addition to being fragrant, this method also makes the rice cook faster because the water used is already boiling and hot.

"Tips to make it fast and not take too much time. Because the water is already boiling, it cooks faster," explained YouTube Lisna dewy.
