Brilio.net - Fried tempeh is a popular side dish for heavy meals, known for its savory taste and crunchy texture. In addition to being delicious, fried tempeh is also easy to make. Simply season the sliced tempeh, then fry until crispy and crunchy.
Although it looks simple, not everyone succeeds in making crispy and savory fried tempeh. The main challenge is to ensure that the spices are perfectly absorbed when fried. Special techniques are needed to fry tempeh so that the spices are better absorbed.
Tempeh should be marinated first in seasoned water. The longer it is soaked, the tastier and crispier it will be after frying. However, this method sometimes does not allow the spices to penetrate to the inside, often only the outside tastes savory while the inside remains bland.
Well, to make it more savory, you can use the technique shared by TikTok user @casadebuana19. Through one of the videos uploaded, he admitted to having another trick when making fried tempeh. So, the tempeh is not marinated first with spices, but he applies another method so that the taste of the tempeh is even more savory to the inside.
As reported by BrilioFood on Wednesday (8/1), tempeh that is to be processed can be fried directly without the need for marination first. However, to make it taste more savory, this tempeh still has to be seasoned.
First, make the seasoning. In a bowl, pour 200 ml of water, garlic powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and chicken stock powder. Stir until all ingredients are dissolved.

After that, cut the tempeh into fairly thick pieces. Once done, cut both sides of the tempeh. This will allow the seasoning to penetrate into the inside of the tempeh.

If so, prepare a pan and pour cooking oil. Then heat it over medium heat. When it is hot, add the sliced tempeh. Fry the tempeh until half dry.
When the tempeh is half dry, immediately pour the spice mixture over the tempeh. Then fry the tempeh with the spices until the color changes to golden. When fried this way, the spices will be absorbed optimally and make the tempeh taste even more savory.

When the tempeh is dry and golden brown, remove and drain. Then place it on paper or kitchen tissue so that the oil drains and makes the tempeh crispier. Now, this fried tempeh is ready to be consumed. The taste is guaranteed to be savory and delicious.
