Brilio.net/en - The former Power Rangers star Ricardo Medina Jr has been formally charged with one count of murder for the 2015 death of his roommate. He was arrested on Thursday and has his hearing set for January 19th. This is nearly one year after the murder occurred and after prosecutors said he would not face charges due to a self defense plea. However after a nearly one year ongoing investigation conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department he was arrested on sufficient evidence of murder.
Medina fatally stabbed his roommate Josh Sutter with a sword at their shared home in Los Angeles, allegedly over a dispute about Medinas girlfriend. After Media stabbed his roommate of one year several times, he called the police and the paramedics. Unfortunately, after arriving at the hospital Sutter was pronounced dead.
Prosecutors are asking his bail to be set at $1 Million. The defense is claiming that Media acted in self-defense. The actor will appear in court on Tuesday. His lawyer Allen Bell told E! News "As far as I know, nothing has changed since a year ago when Rickey was first arrested. From the evidence I am aware of, he is as innocent now as he was then. I have not received any additional information and presumably will know more Tuesday at his arraignment." If he is convicted, Medina may face up to 26 years in prison.
I want to say I am very, very, very sorry for what occurred, Medina told the media last February.
Medina is best known for his role as the Red Ranger on Power Rangers Wild Force, in which he starred in 39 episodes in 2002. He also portrayed Derek in 24 episodes on Power Rangers Samurai. His lesser known works include acting credits in a 2003 episode of E.R. and a 2004 episode of C.S.I. Miami.
No word yet if he will be wearing his Red Rangers outfit to his hearing on Tuesday.
