The ever-elusive drug lord reached out to Penn in order to have a Hollywood biopic portray his life

Brilio.net/en - Even Joaqin El Chapo Guzman, Mexicos most notorious cartel leader and two-time prison escapee, couldnt resist the Hollywood limelight. After a six-month manhunt for the elusive drug lord, it was his contact to Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn that eventually led the Mexican law officials to find the cartel leader in Los Mochis, a coastal town in his native state of Sinaloa.

The ever-elusive drug lord reached out to Penn in order to have a Hollywood biopic portray his life. Guzman granted his first ever interview outside of an interrogation room to Penn and it was Rolling Stone Magazine that unveiled an 11,000-word feature written by Penn on Saturday about the meeting. The two met late last year in the Mexican jungle and started their 7-hour meeting with a warm hug and ended at 4 in the morning with tequila and tacos. I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world. I have a fleet of submarines, airplanes, trucks and boats, boasted Guzman. Penn stressed that the interview was set up with the help of Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, who portrayed a Sinaloa cartel member in the popular telenovela La Reina del Sur.

Sean Penn has Secret Meeting with Mexican Cartel Leader El Chapo

El Chapo is now back in the maximum security Altiplano prison from which he escaped a mere six months ago in a nearly mile long tunnel, according to Mexican law officials. It is believed that when reaching out to the Hollywood producers, officials were able to track Guzmans location and finally catch him. The Sinaloa cartel leader may be extradited to the US, where he faces at least seven drug-related indictments. But the process wont be easy. Mexico banned capital punishment more than a decade ago and usually doesnt extradite its citizens to countries that still have the capital punishment.

The legal process may be a long one, long enough for El Chapo to see his story unfold into a Hollywood hit.
