Brilio.net - The world of education is back in the spotlight after a mother complained about her child's exam who is still in grade 1 of elementary school. The mother's outpouring of her heart went viral on social media and garnered various responses from netizens.

The mother felt sad because her child, who was not yet fluent in reading, had to face exam questions that she thought were too difficult. She also criticized the current curriculum, which she considered inappropriate for the abilities of children his age.

The mother who is known by the account @novita_yansu23 expressed her concerns about the exam questions given to her child. She felt that the questions were not in accordance with her child's abilities who still had difficulty reading.

"Current curriculum. My child is in 1st grade of elementary school. He already knows the letters but can't spell or read yet. Today is the first day of PTS," wrote @novita_yansu23, quoted by brilio.net on Tuesday (1/10).

The mother also mentioned that her child has special needs (ABK). She felt sad seeing her child's exam results which only contained scribbles.

"The teacher said that this child is a special needs child, so please teach him to dictate. Look at this test result, there are no answers, only random scribbles (those who have been given the answers are taught to answer at home)," he added.

Despite trying to teach her child at home and giving private lessons, this mother felt that her child's ability was still not sufficient to work on the questions. She felt that a 1st grader should still be in the stage of learning to recognize numbers.

"I didn't realize that my tears as a mother fell, not defending my child, but a first grade elementary school student who should still be learning to recognize numbers doesn't deserve to be given questions like this. It's not that my child wasn't taught at home and in private tutoring too, but how come his abilities are still limited," she concluded.

The mother's post sparked a heated debate among netizens about the education system in Indonesia. Some netizens agreed with the mother's opinion and considered the current curriculum too burdensome for children.

Meanwhile, others argue that it is a necessary challenge to improve children's abilities from an early age. Moreover, each child has a different development.

"The problem is not the curriculum... but the way teachers teach now is different from the way they used to. In my opinion, LBH has the same quality as the teachers from the 80s and 90s," said @mollysimomol.

"Nowadays, kindergartens don't teach you how to read and count, you still have to go to school at your mother's high school," said @shella_11.

"Nowadays, as parents, we can no longer hide behind the principle of "children of that age"... because the curriculum demands more. Keep up the spirit of the process, bro," said @gavababykids.

"Nowadays, if you can't read, you can't go to elementary school, Mom. That's why you have to go to kindergarten and so on," said @eni_l.gaol.

"Even though they can read, it doesn't necessarily mean that children can reason the answers... the current curriculum is indeed dense with material. Children are required to be able to do it, but every child's reasoning level is different. Some are fast and some are slow," said @user3586581125810.
