Brilio.net - Some time ago, social media users were shocked by a video showing watermelon rind being sold in a Japanese supermarket. In the video clip, watermelon rind was sold for Rp2,000. This can be seen from the video shared by an Indonesian citizen on his TikTok account @sindangbeken1020.

Not only the video uploader was shocked, many netizens also did not expect that the waste had a high value. Because, so far most people will immediately throw away watermelon skin after cutting or consuming fresh fruit inside. Indeed, the hard texture of watermelon skin is often considered inedible.

It turns out that watermelon rind can be processed into delicious dishes. A chef named Fajar Alam once proved it through one of the videos he uploaded. The content creator and graduate of MasterChef season 6 shared the process of cooking watermelon rind on his Instagram account @fajaralam_s. In the upload, he wanted to process watermelon rind into a stir-fry menu.

As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @fajaralam_s on Friday (16/8), the first thing to do is peel the green layer on the watermelon skin. This green skin cannot be consumed, so it must be peeled and thrown away. So the part that is consumed is only the white.
