Netizens speculate about the term for this pulsating flesh phenomenon.

Indeed, quite a few people are mistaken about seeing an appearance like this. But on the other hand, there are also those who also explain this phenomenon. Through the comments column, there are a number of netizens who explain that this is a normal incident that occurs when meat has just been cut.

"The meat experiences rigor mortis. When this condition occurs, there is still residual energy in the muscles, so the muscles or meat are able to move like a spasm," said TikTok @eschocofruity.premium.

"The nerves haven't died yet, they're not worms, " explained TikTok @ay.khoirrr.

"If you touch it, it's still hot, usually it's the meat because it's just been slaughtered," explained TikTok @abey.septical.

Scientific explanation of why pieces of meat throb.

As mentioned, this phenomenon occurs because the neurons or nerves in the meat have not completely died. Reporting from repository.unika.ac.id, this phenomenon is also referred to as one of the rigor mortis phases. Well, rigor mortis is the stiffness that occurs in the muscles of the meat after it is cut.

Meanwhile, pulsating flesh like that is in the pre-rigor phase, that is, before the flesh completely loses its flexibility. This usually happens when a cow or goat that has been slaughtered is skinned immediately, without waiting for the nerves to stop working. Therefore, the nerves in the flesh trigger the muscles to move.

Ideally, a sacrificial animal that has been slaughtered must be allowed to sit until all the blood has completely drained. Only then is it skinned and cut into pieces. That way, the pre-rigor phase will not be visible to the naked eye.

So, the question that is often asked is whether this pulsating meat is safe to consume?

According to Chef Nausa, a chef and content creator, these pulsating pieces of meat are a normal and frequent occurrence. Apart from that, the meat is also safe to consume. However, the texture of the meat tends to be tougher or tougher because it is cut straight after slaughtering.

"So actually this is a normal phenomenon, a phenomenon that commonly occurs in the world of meat. So, you don't need to worry about consuming it," explained Chef Nausa, quoted by BrilioFood from the TikTok account @chefnausa.
