If the refrigerator rubber is stiff, the magnet will not be able to stick optimally.

Brilio.net - The refrigerator rubber that lines the inside of the door is an important component to stabilize the temperature in the refrigerator. The magnet on the door rubber will stick firmly to the refrigerator body when the door is closed. The function of this rubber is very vital to maintain the overall performance of the refrigerator.

Long-term use of the refrigerator can cause the rubber to become loose and stiff. Changes in the physical condition of the rubber from flexible to stiff will reduce the magnetic adhesion. Reduced magnetic adhesion causes the refrigerator door to not close properly.

Serious damage to the refrigerator can occur due to the door not closing properly. The thermostat will detect a heat signal, forcing the compressor to work extra hard to cool the refrigerator. The refrigerator temperature becomes unstable and tends to increase due to cold air leakage.

Continuous compressor operation at maximum capacity has the potential to cause damage. Damage to the compressor can trigger damage to other refrigerator components. Repairing the damage requires a lot of money.

To overcome this, usually some people will immediately replace the refrigerator door rubber. However, there are also those who then fix it by removing the rubber and soaking it in hot water. This method is believed to be able to make the rubber that was originally stiff become soft again.

But instead of removing and installing the rubber, you can actually solve the problem more easily, you know.

A YouTube user Bhoy Teknisi once shared a quick trick to overcome stiff refrigerator door rubber. The trick shared is easier to do because you don't need to remove and reattach the refrigerator door rubber.

As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Bhoy Teknisi on Friday (12/27), first clean the refrigerator door rubber. When cleaning, scrub it with a brush that has been given water so that the dirt that sticks to the rubber can be removed. After that, wipe it with a dry cloth. Do this process on all parts of the refrigerator rubber until it is completely clean.

Next step, prepare really boiling hot water. Then flush the rubber of the refrigerator door using the hot water. Flush slowly and little by little so that the hot water does not enter the inside of the refrigerator.

"This is so that the rubber wakes up or becomes flexible immediately. So if previously the rubber was very stiff, by pouring hot water on it, it will wake up (become flexible)," explained YouTube Bhoy Teknisi.

Pour this hot water over the entire rubber part of the refrigerator door. Start from the side, top, and bottom. Once done, wipe the rubber door of the refrigerator using a dry cloth. Don't forget to wipe other parts of the refrigerator that are exposed to water.

In the video, YouTube user Bhoy Teknisi also wipes the front of the refrigerator body. He explains that this part must also be clean from dirt so that the refrigerator rubber can stick very tightly. If it is clean and dry, immediately close the refrigerator door. Well, the refrigerator door is really tight again, you know.
