As reported by BrilioFood from TikTok @dumiseviahafiz on Friday (12/27), the first thing to do is to scale the milkfish skin. Rub the skin using a knife blade so that the scales peel off. After that, wash under running water until clean.

Next, pound the milkfish using a pestle from head to tail. Do this technique on both sides of the milkfish. Well, this process will make the bones or fish spines attached to the meat loose and easy to remove.

If the bones are loose, immediately tear the bottom of the fish's head (where the gills are) using two fingers. After that, immediately pull the middle bone of the fish that is on the inside. Don't forget to also remove the inside of the fish.
