Brilio.net - Many dishes have a spicy taste, such as dendeng balado, ayam betutu, plecing kangkung, and so on. The spicy taste in various dishes usually comes from cayenne pepper . In addition to making it spicy, these spices can make dishes more appetizing.
Most of the chilies used are usually fresh. Not without reason, fresh chilies have a spicy taste that is easier to mix in various dishes. Therefore, many people usually store fresh chilies as a stock of food ingredients at home.
One of the most common ways to store chilies is to simply put them in the refrigerator. But did you know that the temperature of the refrigerator can dry out chilies, and when used, their color can change and of course affect the appearance of the dish.
If you often find chilies drying out when stored, don't worry, there is a trick that can be done to overcome this. This trick was once shared by Instagram user @ummubalqishaura through one of the uploaded videos. She admitted that the trick she did was to soak the chilies in water mixed with one kitchen spice.
As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @ummubalqishaura on Tuesday (13/8), the kitchen spice in question is turmeric powder. Basically, turmeric also contains curcumin compounds, which have anti-inflammatory properties and can play a role in strengthening the structure of chilies to make them fresh again. In addition, turmeric can provide a brighter color to chilies.

Put the dried chilies in a container, then soak them in water. After that, add enough turmeric powder. Stir until the turmeric dissolves, then soak the chilies for a few minutes.

Next, drain the chilies and rinse them with clean water. After that, pick and discard the chili stems. Don't forget to dry the chilies with kitchen paper so they don't rot easily when stored again. Only then are the chilies ready to be put into an airtight container.

To make it last longer, you can add a clove of garlic to the container containing the chili. This garlic functions as an antibacterial that will make the chili last longer. That way, the chili can stay fresh for a long time and not dry out again when stored in the refrigerator.
This post about refreshing chili has been viewed more than 106 thousand times since it was uploaded on Monday (12/8) yesterday. It is no wonder that many other Instagram users flooded the comments column with various responses. Most of them admitted that they had just found out about the trick.
