Sandra Dewi revealed that she never received a monthly allowance from her husband, Harvey Moeis . This statement was made during the trial of the tin commodity corruption case at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday (10/10).
When the judge asked if her husband gave her money every month, Sandra replied that he did not. He only gave her an allowance for household needs.
"No, Your Honor, to me. However, for household needs such as paying for electricity, water, and employee salaries, my husband transfers it to my household assistant. I asked the household assistant to pay for all household needs," answered Sandra.
"But for my personal needs, I pay for them myself, Your Majesty," he continued.
The judge then explained that usually a husband has an obligation to provide income to his wife, both for personal and household needs. However, Sandra emphasized that she is an independent woman.
"I don't want to, Your Honor. I have enough income from my career. I am an independent woman and have never asked my parents for money since coming to Jakarta. Why should I ask my husband for money? My husband has provided for the needs of the house and children, but for personal needs, I am used to supporting myself," she explained.
When the judge asked if her husband had ever given her gifts, Sandra replied, "An engagement ring and a wedding ring."
However, the judge stressed that it was not a gift. Sandra then explained that the car was not in her name and was used for the benefit of the family, including her children and husband.
"I never asked about my husband's income because we agreed to separate our assets before getting married," she replied.
When the judge asked about the vehicles, Sandra replied, "I think they are all in my husband's name, except for the vehicle I bought myself."
