This phenomenon of previously being friends, now being enemies, becomes increasingly apparent when the general election or regional election approaches.

Brilio.net - "In politics there are no permanent friends or enemies, there are only permanent interests." This proverb is truly depicted in the current national political scene.

In the world of politics , relationships between politicians can change as quickly as the direction of the wind. Those who once stood on the same side, working together to achieve a common goal, can now face off as unforgiving rivals. Likewise, sworn enemies who once attacked each other on the political stage can unite to achieve a common interest.

This phenomenon is increasingly evident when approaching the General Election or Regional Election. Several political figures who were previously close and allied, are now facing each other as rivals in the struggle for power. The changes in alliances and political dynamics that occur show how easily relations between politicians change in this country.

So who are the politicians in question? Check out brilio.net's summary from various sources, Thursday (22/8).

1. Prabowo and Anies Baswedan.

In 2017, Jakarta's political scene witnessed an alliance that caught the public's attention. Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto showed his full support for Anies Baswedan in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. The two were often seen side by side at various campaign events.

This political intimacy reached its peak when the Anies-Sandiaga pair succeeded in winning the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election. This victory also seemed to be concrete evidence of the success of the Prabowo-Anies alliance, strengthening their relationship in the national political landscape.

2. Prabowo-Mahfud MD

Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, there was quite a lot of news about the possibility of a duet between Prabowo Subianto and Mahfud MD. Both of them, who are senior figures with extensive political experience, are considered a potential combination.

Prabowo, with his military background and position as Defense Minister, was seen as having a strong base of supporters. Meanwhile, Mahfud MD, who was then serving as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, was seen as being able to provide a counterbalance with his strong legal and academic background.

Several informal meetings between the two figures also fueled public speculation. However, as with the ever-changing dynamics of politics, the rumored duet did not materialize.

3. Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo

The political relationship between Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo Subianto has been in the public spotlight. Especially when there were indications that President Jokowi was trying to "match" the two as potential presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election.

This closeness reached its peak when the two were seen together at several state and political events. However, this closeness did not continue into the realm of practical politics. In the end, Ganjar and Prabowo became rivals in the 2024 presidential election, each leading a different party coalition.

4. Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar

Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, who recently ran as a duet in the 2024 presidential election, are now in opposing camps. The Constitutional Court's ruling opened up an opportunity for Anies to fight again in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, but Cak Imin instead chose to join the KIM Plus coalition that supported another pair.

This shift in attitude is not only happening in the PKB led by Cak Imin. The parties that previously supported Anies have now turned around, even trying to hinder his steps in parliament.

5. Sandiaga and Anies

Sandiaga Uno and Anies Baswedan were a solid pair when they ran in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election. They even managed to win the governor and deputy governor seats.

However, the political direction of both began to change as the 2024 presidential election approached. Sandiaga Uno was actually in the coalition that supported the Prabowo-Gibran pair.

Sandiaga joined a coalition consisting of parties such as Gerindra, Golkar, and PAN. While Anies advanced as a presidential candidate supported by the Change for Unity Coalition (KPP) consisting of the NasDem, PKB, and PKS parties.
