Wanda Hamidah confirmed leaving the Golkar Party while uploading an emergency warning with a blue background, featuring a picture of a garuda. This upload went viral after the Indonesian House of Representatives ignored the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding the age requirements for candidates in the 2024 Pilkada.
Wanda emphasized that she did not want to be on the wrong side. For that reason, she was willing to leave the Golkar Party. Wanda also emphasized how great her love for her country was.
"I'm out of Golkar. I don't wanna be on a wrong side of history. I love my country too much," wrote Wanda, quoted by brilio.net from Instagram @wanda_hamidah, Thursday (22/8).

Wanda Hamidah's decision to leave the Golkar Party apparently has a more complex background. Quoted from Antaranews, Wanda explained that her decision was based on a series of political events that made her disappointed with Golkar and political parties in Indonesia in general.
Wanda highlighted the role of political parties in passing several controversial laws that she said were not in favor of the people and clean government, such as the KPK Law and the Job Creation Law.
"There is no longer any concern for the people, which means that political parties don't care about the people," he said.
In addition, Wanda also criticized the 2024 presidential election contestation process which she said used inappropriate methods. She also highlighted the stages of the regional elections, where she considered the parties very vulnerable to being co-opted by the interests of certain elites.
"I have also strengthened myself. I have seen the developments of the last 2 years, and I have decided not to be part of a political party that supports oligarchy and returns Indonesia exactly to the New Order era," Wanda emphasized.

Wanda believes that her decision to leave Golkar was the right step, because she wanted to side with the truth and make her mark in history.
"I want to side with the truth, and this event will be recorded in history," he continued.
Regarding the next political steps, Wanda stated that she would probably not join another political party in the near future. She considered that current political parties were only a representation of power and were not in line with the principles and spirit of the 1998 Reformation that she fought for.
