The alumni of December 2, 2016 rally, or the '212 rally', paid a visitto the The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) building Fridayafternoon.
This time, they weren't demanding harsh punishment for Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, but rather they wanted the commission to protect clerics from so-called criminalization and complained about several ongoing legal cases, including one involving media mogul Hary Tanoesoedibjo.
"We also made complaints on some cases. The first is related to decree on mass organization, the dissolution of HTI. Then, cases related to [IT expert] Hermansyah in the case of Firza Husein and Rizieq Shihab, Buni Yani, the person who reported Kaesang (M. Hidayat) who is now a suspect and HT (Hary Tanoe)," said the Chairman of 212 Rally Presidium, Ansufri Idrus Sambo at the Komnas HAM building, Central Jakarta.
He then explained the reason why the movement chose to shield Hary Tanoe.
"We help HT, because some people have askedwhy we only defend Muslims, so we prove them that we defend anyone who shares similar thoughts or is on our side," he said.
Sambo also denied that their motive to support Hary was political.
"HT has also helped us like having our activities covered [by media]. Everything has nothing to do with politics. If you're in problem, we'll help as long as we share similar perception," he added.
Hary Tanoesoedibjo has been named a suspect of a threat case after he was proven to send several text messages that have been considered threatening to Attorney General's Office investigator Yulianto. The messages received by Yulianto when he was into PT Mobile-8 tax restitution case and Hary was a commissionaire in the company when the texts arrived.
Hary is subject to Article 29 of Law 11/2008 on Electronic Transaction Information (ITE).
