Brilio.net/en - Although this is an old story, still there are many havent know about the mythor curse, to be precise. Some people believe, and some other had experienced this themselves to prove and tell the truth behind. They said if you come to Bali with your unmarried partner, you might break up soon after going back from the island.

Once upon a time, they said, came to this island a young prince and princess couple of Brahman caste from Java who were to be married. Upon their vacation, they fell deeper in love and became intimate. However, soon after the prince called the wedding off, left the princess and never heard of ever since.

The princess, feeling betrayed, ashamed, crushed and vengeful, cursed on the island that all unmarried couples who came to this island would break up within six months. She was so heartbroken that if she couldnt be happy, no other couple could. But still, Bali is one of the most favorite romantic destination for couples to go on holiday.

Of course many people dont believe at such mythor curse, until they experience it themselves and proved it right. You must first understand that being an island of the Gods, Bali is highly protected by spells and curses as well. Besides the thousands of magic that could happen, there must be also a downside of this island. Believe it or not, many couples that I know and read their stories had to end their relationship after visiting this island on a romantic getaway together.

There are some variations to the myth, such as:

  1. Only couples who gets intimate on the island would suffer this curse, as for those who respect the traditional values by avoiding sleeping together will escape safely.
  2. Some says that only Tanah Lot temple holds this curse, not the whole island. Couples who go watch sunset in this area are said to break up within weeks or months upon returning home.

  3. Couples who go just by themselves are more likely to be cursed, while those who travel in group of friends and family would be unharmed.

Survey done by villa-bali shown a temporary result that most people dont buy it at all (22%). Still, some people believe it through what happened to their friends (21%) and some even experienced the horrible break up themselves (15%). Some people are not sure about the myth, but wont risk to ruin their relationship (19%). Perhaps you should keep it until your honeymoon to enjoy the beautiful island of Gods with your official spouse.
