Brilio.net/en - In the middle of Balis property development, it is important to keep some things as it is. Bali is famous for its travel destination with beautiful sceneries of beaches, cliffs, mountains, lakes and rice fields and each year over six millions of both foreign and domestic tourists come from all over the world to this paradise (data taken from baliprov.go.id). Investors put their money in form of villas, hotels, restaurants and other property, leaving Balinese farmers aside as they watch their rice fields turn into commercial industry.
Apparently there are still people who concern about nature preservation and maintaining the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which means the well-being that is obtained by keeping ones harmony among people, with nature and with God. Barn N Bunk (BNB), as part of Kampung Tengah Sawah green tourism, is one of the pioneers to promote the concept of agro-tourism that supports both of the agriculture and tourism without causing too much damage to the environment.
Agro-tourism here means investors rent the area and build its facilities among rice fields and crops. The farmers are introduced to 'SRI certified organic farming-system', the latest agriculture technologies, and switched their farming system to organic rice farming. That way, the local Balinese wont lose the ownership of their land and farmers would still have their profession. BNB also commits to educate and encourage the young generation to adopt the farming to maintain the heritage culture from ancestors, and ensures the crop harvests are sold to local supermarkets in fair price.
The buildings are made with wooden structures on top of harvestable fresh-water farm fishes. The fishes and the lemongrasses that planted around it keep mosquitos away and fill the void of rice field, so all of the land is kept productive. Upon staying, the guests are offered experience to farm within the area of sixty hectares while enjoying the natural scenery of the distant Mount Agung and Masceti beach at other direction.
Within walk distance, the black sand beach is waiting to be explored. Night surfing is one of the famous activities that can be done around 7-9 p.m. The bed & breakfast dorm rooms are available for backpackers, while the chic white wooden villa is incredibly affordable. BNB is definitely changing the travel and tourism industry into a green lifestyle in the coolest way possible.
