Weekends are a prime time to purchase flights with discounted prices.

Brilio.net/en - Whether its your concerned (and frugal) parents or that friend who seems to have backpacked all seven continents, everyone seems to have a different opinion on when to buy airline tickets. Buy on Thursday but book for Tuesday. Cheapest prices after 3pm on Wednesday. Book a year in advance. Or last minute.

A recent study conducted by Expedia and Airlines Reporting Corporation puts some of these speculations to rest after having analyzed 10billion passenger flights from October 2014 and October 2015. The findings may surprise some. Weekends are a prime time to purchase flights with discounted prices. Thats because thats when leisure travel occurs, which is cheaper than business travel.

Another interesting static points to how far in advanced tickets should be purchased. Within the continental US, its 57 days before the trip. From North-America to Asia-Pacific its 160 days before the trip. And from North-America to Europe its cheapest to purchase a ticket 176 days before the trip.

But at the bottom line, the airlines change their prices multiple times a day so theres never a sure fire answer.

So stop fretting and get on that flight to go somewhere where the sand is soft.
