Crab meat is one of the seafood dishes that is loved by many people because it tastes sweet, has a soft texture, and is high in nutrients. Whether served in the form of soup, stir-fry, or cooked with special spices, crab meat always succeeds in pampering the tongue. Not without reason, crab has a unique taste that is difficult to match by other seafood ingredients, making it a favorite choice in many restaurants and eateries.
However, despite its delicious taste, crab meat sometimes presents its own challenges in terms of processing. One problem that often arises is the fishy smell of crab meat. This fishy smell usually comes from the remains of liquid or tissue in the crab that is not completely clean when processed. If not processed properly, this fishy smell can reduce the enjoyment of crab dishes, even making it less popular with some people.
Not only that, another challenge when processing crab is that the meat is difficult to cook evenly. Therefore, before being cooked with various spices, crab meat is usually boiled or steamed first. This aims to make the meat cooked and easier to process.
But instead of cooking it twice, you can use a trick shared by YouTube user Albana Kreatif in processing crab meat. Through one of the videos uploaded, this netizen admitted to only cooking the crab once. However, the meat can be perfectly cooked and even free from the fishy smell.
As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Albana Kreatif on Wednesday (28/8), he admitted that there is one kitchen ingredient that can be the main key when cooking crab meat, namely coconut milk. Well, this kitchen ingredient can make crab meat free from fishy odor and perfectly cooked. In addition, the taste of the crab is also maximally savory to the inside.
Once done, grind the spices consisting of shallots, garlic, cayenne pepper, and candlenuts that have been fried until soft. Next, cook the coconut milk until it boils while stirring so that it doesn't split. Then, add the ground spices and stir until evenly mixed.
