Brilio.net - Cooking rice with a rice cooker is a practical and easy method. However, if not done correctly, the results can be far from expectations. One problem that many people often experience is finding dry and crusty rice after being cooked in a rice cooker.
Basically, a rice cooker works by distributing heat evenly across the entire surface of the rice. However, if the amount of water used is not appropriate, the rice can lose its moisture during the heating process. This often causes the bottom of the rice in the rice cooker to become dry and hard. In some cases, this can form a crust that is difficult to remove.
The problem of dry and crusty rice can also occur when rice is left in the rice cooker for too long after it is cooked. The heating mode (keep warm) that is relied on to keep the rice warm can actually cause the rice to continue to lose its moisture. Over time, the water vapor in the rice cooker will evaporate, causing the rice to become drier, especially in the parts that are in direct contact with the bottom of the pot.
To prevent this, you can use a trick shared by Facebook user Fitri Rahmawati. Through one of the videos uploaded, the netizen claimed to have a special method so that rice stored in a rice cooker does not dry out and become crusty. On the other hand, this method also keeps rice from going stale all day long.

As reported by BrilioFood from Facebook Fitri Rahmawati on Wednesday (21/8), the first thing to do is to cook the rice as usual in a rice cooker. If it is cooked, let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Then, open the rice cooker and stir the rice. This will allow the steam that causes the rice to go stale to disappear.

Next, unplug the rice cooker. After that, take a napkin or clean cloth. Then use it to cover the top of the rice or the inner pot of the rice cooker. This napkin will help absorb the hot steam that arises and will keep the rice moist, so it doesn't dry out easily.

If the rice is still hot and emits a lot of steam, let it sit like this (don't close the rice cooker immediately). After the steam has disappeared and the rice has started to cool, then cover the cloth with the rice cooker lid. That way, the rice won't dry out easily, become crusty, or go stale all day.
