Brilio.net - Salted fish is a side dish that is loved by various groups, both young and old. Its deliciousness often makes people eat more rice, so salted fish is considered a menu that can increase appetite.
As the name suggests, salted fish is fish that has been preserved using salt, resulting in a salty taste. On the market, there are two types of salted fish: wet and dry. Dried salted fish is more often chosen because of its longer shelf life.
Dried salted fish has thinner and crispier characteristics due to the maximum drying process. This texture makes salted fish crispier when fried. However, frying dried salted fish can be a challenge. Often the results are tough or even burnt, even though many people prefer crispy salted fish.
To solve this problem, a YouTube user named INSPIRASI DAPUR RUMAH TANGGA shared a trick for frying salted fish. In one of his YouTube Shorts, he said that he got the trick from a mother in the village.
The YouTube user explained that she really enjoyed the conversations with the mothers in the village, which often focused on the topic of cooking. One of the tips shared was how to fry salted fish so that it remains crispy, tasty, and does not burn.
In the video, he uses small and thin salted fish. Before frying, salted fish does not need to be soaked in water first. You just need to wash it until clean.

After washing, place the salted fish in a bowl, then sprinkle with rice flour. Stir until well mixed. Then add more rice flour and stir until evenly mixed. The use of rice flour will add a crispier texture to the salted fish.
"Sprinkle it twice and there is no need to add Royco seasoning, salt, sugar, flavoring, no need," he explained further.

Once done, put the salted fish into the heated oil. Fry for only 15 seconds over medium heat until half cooked. While frying, don't forget to turn the fish over so it doesn't burn.

In the first frying, the salted fish is still tough. Well, after draining and waiting for 1 minute, fry the salted fish again. This second frying stage is what will change the texture of the salted fish to be crispier and crunchier. Just fry it briefly by stirring it.

Once done, lift and drain the salted fish. Now, this salted fish can be eaten directly as a side dish. Its crunchy and perfectly cooked texture is guaranteed to increase your appetite.
"Oh, so you fry it twice? Thanks for the tips, sis," said YouTube Mamah Nuy66.
"The knowledge is great," said YouTube Pryanto Yanto.
