Brilio.net - Cooking rice is often considered a trivial matter because it is enough to put rice and water into the rice cooker, then press the button. However, in some cases, the resulting rice actually feels hard, too soft, or even goes stale and smells quickly. This problem often occurs not because the device is problematic, but because the cooking process is not paid attention to.

Common mistakes such as incorrect water measurements, poor quality rice, or lack of rice washing can have a big impact on the end result. Rice that is not clean enough, for example, still contains starch residue that can make the rice go stale easily. Likewise, incorrect water measurements can cause the rice to become hard or too soft.

In fact, cooking rice properly is not only about the comfort of eating it, but also about its durability and quality. Then to produce rice that is more sticky and durable, many people add special ingredients, such as garlic and cooking oil to the rice that is about to be cooked. These two kitchen ingredients are considered to be able to make rice last longer and smell better.

But besides these ingredients, you can apply other tricks in cooking rice that is soft and long-lasting. This trick was once shared by Instagram user @nurrin_nurrinawati through one of the uploaded videos. She admitted to only adding one spice when cooking rice.

As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @nurrin_nurrinawati on Tuesday (4/2), the kitchen ingredient in question is salt. So, you only need to wash the rice until clean. Then move it into a rice cooker pan and pour in water according to the measurement.

Next, add salt to taste. It doesn't need to be too much so that the rice doesn't taste salty. According to Instagram user @nurrin_nurrinawati, this salt can be used as a natural preservative for rice which makes it not go stale quickly and the texture is softer. After that, close the rice cooker and cook as usual until done.

If the rice is cooked, let it sit for a few minutes. Then, open the rice cooker and stir it so that the steam comes out. This is important to do so that the rice does not easily go stale and smell. In addition to stirring, also wipe the inside of the rice cooker lid so that there is no water left.

"So as not to store water, which causes the rice to become wet from the drips," said Instagram @nurrin_nurrinawati.

Well, these steps will make the rice not easily stale even though it is stored in a rice cooker. That way, you can eat rice anytime without worrying about it being stale or smelly. In addition to not being stale, the texture of the rice also tends to be soft and more delicious to eat. The texture of soft rice like this can also minimize the crust in the rice cooker pan because the rice does not stick.
