Brilio.net - Green bean porridge is always a favorite choice for many people, especially during cold weather or rainy season. Its distinctive sweet taste combined with the soft texture of green beans creates a warm and filling sensation. No wonder, this traditional food is often a mainstay menu for breakfast or afternoon snacks with family.

However, the process of cooking mung bean porridge is often a challenge. One problem that often arises is the texture of the mung beans which are too soft or even destroyed during cooking. Instead of being soft, the end result is a porridge that is less appetizing because the beans have lost their original shape. This error usually occurs due to improper cooking duration or the use of too high a heat.

But not only that, the process of soaking green beans before cooking also affects the texture of green bean porridge. An Instagram user @sharajevoo once explained it further about it through one of the uploaded videos.

"There is no need to soak green beans so that the porridge has texture and is not too smooth," explained Instagram user @sharajevoo as quoted by BrilioFood on Wednesday (8/1).

So, when you want to make green bean porridge, just wash it clean and put 250 grams of green beans in the pan. After that, add 1.5 liters of water along with a piece of ginger and 2 knotted pandan leaves. Cook all the ingredients over medium low heat until the green beans are soft and burst.

Now, if the mung beans have broken, then add 150 grams of granulated sugar, a pinch of salt, and 600 ml of coconut milk. Another important key is to add brown sugar at the last stage of making mung bean porridge. According to Instagram user @sharajevoo, adding brown sugar at the beginning of the cooking process will make the mung beans take longer to cook.

Next, cook the green beans until the sugar dissolves and the coconut milk is mixed evenly. After that, turn off the stove. That way, warm green bean porridge is ready to be eaten as breakfast or a treat while relaxing at home.
