Brilio.net - Rice cooker is a kitchen appliance that is very helpful in cooking rice quickly and easily. With just one press of a button, you can get perfectly cooked rice without the hassle of monitoring the cooking process. However, there is one common problem that is often faced by rice cooker users, namely rice that quickly goes stale and smells bad.
This problem not only reduces the pleasure of eating rice, but can also have an impact on health. The main cause of rice going stale quickly in a rice cooker is less than optimal hygiene and maintenance conditions. Leftover rice or water left in the rice cooker can be a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi.
In addition, rubber covers that are not tight or are not cleaned regularly can also be a source of problems. Unclean rubber can store moisture and food residue which then causes an unpleasant odor and accelerates the process of rice rotting.
To overcome this problem, rice cooker maintenance should be a priority. Thoroughly cleaning the rice cooker after each use, including the lid and rubber cover, is essential to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. In addition, ensuring the rice cooker is completely dry before reusing it can also help reduce the risk of rice going stale quickly.
But don't just clean it, there are other things that need to be done so that the rice cooked in the rice cooker doesn't go stale and smelly easily. An Instagram user @casanaf_ once shared a simple trick to prevent stale rice, namely by sterilizing the rice cooker pan. Well, this sterilization aims to make the rice cooker more hygienic and free of bacteria.

Next, let the water boil and release a lot of steam. The boiled water will make all the bacteria left in the rice cooker disappear. Now, if the water has boiled for a few minutes, immediately turn off the rice cooker. Then lift and throw away the boiled water.

If so, immediately clean the rice cooker pan. Then wipe the remaining steam that sticks to the rice cooker with a clean cloth. After that, let the rice cooker dry completely. That way, the rice cooker is ready to be used to cook rice.
" Every time you cook rice, add lime juice. This method can overcome rice that smells and goes stale quickly ," said Instagram @casanaf_.
Since it was uploaded on Friday (10/25), the video about the trick to prevent rice from going stale has been watched more than 8,000 times.
