Brilio.net - Seaweed is now increasingly easy to find, not only in coastal areas, but also in various supermarkets. This product is generally sold in dry form to extend its shelf life.
The process of preserving seaweed by fishermen usually involves salting and drying. Salt is added to fresh seaweed, then dried in the sun until dry and changes color. When it is ready to be used, this dried seaweed is simply boiled and processed as desired.
However, before processing dried seaweed, it is important to clean it first. This step aims to reduce the salt content, clean any dirt that may stick to it, and most importantly, ensure the safety of consumption.
To help in the process of cleaning dried seaweed , a content creator from the YouTube channel Dunia Emak has shared a tutorial. This video provides a step-by-step guide on how to properly clean dried seaweed, so that it is safe for consumption.
As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Dunia Emak on Wednesday (2/10), put the dried seaweed into a container. Then rinse the seaweed until it is free from all dirt that sticks to it.
"Running water is poured over it until the water becomes clear, while the dirt is sorted," he said.

Once done, drain the seaweed into a different container. Sprinkle any type of flour to taste and stir evenly.
"We make the flour soft. This is the process to make it as clean as possible," he said further.

Once it feels even enough, add enough water and rinse the seaweed again. In the video, this netizen is seen rinsing it 3 times so that the rinse water becomes completely clear.

Next, drain and transfer the seaweed to another container. Add water until the entire surface of the seaweed is submerged.
"Well, we'll leave this overnight, okay?" he explained.

After being left overnight, drain the seaweed. As a result, the seaweed becomes maximally clean, has a chewy texture, and is safe to consume. You can immediately process it into various delicious and refreshing drinks or foods.
