Brilio.net - Single-use plastic straws have become an inseparable part of everyday life, especially in the beverage industry. However, you need to know that plastic straws also have a significant impact, especially on the environment. Every year, the pile of plastic straw waste increases and endangers the entire environmental ecosystem.
There are many ways to overcome this, such as reducing the use of plastic straws or recycling this type of waste. Apart from that, plastic straws can also be reused to preserve food, you know. Yup! Many people don't know the other functions of plastic straws which can make food last longer.
An Instagram user @fahrunnizarf once shared another function of plastic straws that not many people know about. Reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @fahrunnizarf on Friday (19/7), the netizen used plastic straws as clips for food packaged in plastic. In the video, he uses packaged wheat flour as an example.

So, wheat flour in plastic packaging that has been opened can be closed tightly with the straw. To use it, just prepare two plastic straws. It's best to use old plastic straws that are no longer used, then wash them and dry them.
If it has been split, set it aside first. Only then take the opened packaging of wheat flour. Then fold the top in half and secure the fold with a plastic straw that was cut open earlier. Simply insert a plastic straw into the fold of the wheat flour packaging.

Next, roll up the straw and plastic packaging until it is really tight. If so, glue the fold again with another plastic straw that has been split. That way, the plastic packaging for wheat flour becomes tighter and the contents don't spill easily.

Apart from not easily spilling, wheat flour packaged this way also lasts longer. This is because the tight packaging will minimize bacterial contamination, which can make wheat flour moldy, infested with lice or even ants. But it doesn't just apply to wheat flour, yes. This method is also effective for food items packaged in similar plastic. That way, the food you store will last longer.
