South Jakarta Police opened an alleged hate speech investigation involving musician Ahmad Dhani and planned to summon him in near future.

"What is clear is that the condition has been raised to investigation," said the South Jakarta Police Chief Iwan Kurniawan at the South Jakarta Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

The South Jakarta Police investigator had sent notification letters on the investigation orders (SPDP) to South Jakarta prosecutor office on July 14, 2017.

Before raising the legal status of the alleged hate speech case, Iwan stated that the police had called the complainant, Jack Lapian, who is also one of the sympathizers of former and detained Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, as awitness to the case. The case itself had previously gone through an open investigation.

During the process, Iwan stated that the police will re-summon the twofor further questioning. "We'll call them again [and if] previously we've conducted a probe through interogation, now we'll use pro justicia inquiry," he said.

"Definetely, we will [summon Dhani]," added Iwan.

Furthermore, Iwan explained that the police had enough proof to raise the status of the case. "There are witnesses' testimony and evidences. There are two expert [witness] testimonies, [from] criminal and IT experts," he said.

Ahmad Dhani was reported to police on March 9, 2017 by Jack Lapian over hate speech on twitter. Dhani's tweet allegedly violated the Article 28 (2) juncto Article 45 (2) of Law no. 19 on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).
