Brilio.net - Cooking rice using a rice cooker has become a daily habit for people. This tool not only makes the process of cooking rice easier, but also ensures that the rice is cooked perfectly and stays warm until mealtime arrives. In modern life like today, a rice cooker is a practical choice that helps save time and energy for household needs .

However, even though it is very practical, using a rice cooker also has its own challenges, one of which is that the rice goes stale easily. This problem often occurs when rice is left too long in the rice cooker in heating mode. Although the rice cooker keeps the rice warm, this condition can also create an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria and fungi, which ultimately causes the rice to go stale faster. This is certainly an obstacle for families who are used to preparing large amounts of rice to be consumed throughout the day.

Then to overcome this problem, you can imitate the trick shared by Instagram user @diidii_winfleur. Through one of the videos uploaded, she admitted to using additional ingredients when cooking rice so that it doesn't go stale quickly. Don't worry, these additional ingredients will not change the taste of the rice.

As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @diidii_winfleur on Thursday (22/8), the additional ingredients used are garlic and lemon water. These two ingredients can be used together or separately. Both have the same function, namely to prevent rice from going stale when stored in a rice cooker.

How to use it, wash it clean first. After that, put it in the inner pot or rice cooker pan. Then add water with the usual amount used when cooking rice.

Next, add 1 peeled clove of garlic or a little squeeze of lemon juice. If you want maximum results, you can use both of these ingredients together. No need to worry about the taste of the rice changing because the amount used is very small, so the rice remains neutral in taste.

If you have added the additional ingredients, cook the rice as usual until it is cooked. Once cooked, you can take the cooked garlic pieces. Or if you like, you can crush it and mix the garlic with the rice. This will make the rice give off a delicious aroma.

Basically, garlic and lemon juice can help prevent rice from going stale quickly because both have effective natural antibacterial and antifungal properties. Garlic contains the compound allicin, which is known to have the ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi, which cause rice to go stale. When garlic is mixed into rice while cooking, this compound helps reduce microbial activity that can cause rice to spoil.

Meanwhile, lemon juice contains citric acid which also has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Citric acid creates a more acidic environment, which is less conducive to the growth of bacteria and fungi. In addition, the acidity of the lemon juice can help keep the pH of the rice low, which naturally slows down the spoilage process.

Since it was uploaded on Saturday (17/8), the video about the rice cooking trick has been watched more than 20 thousand times. Who would have thought, many other Instagram users were interested and also flooded the comments column with various responses. Some people claimed to have succeeded in applying the trick.

"I used lime. Thank God it worked. So I always have lime in stock," said Instagram @kamelia_cozykitchen.

"Now I have time to cook rice, it doesn't go stale for long... so I cook rice for one meal... I really want to try this method, I hope the rice is safe and doesn't go stale quickly," said Instagram @mamiemanda.
