Brilio.net - Jengkol is known as a food with a pungent aroma because it contains a sulfur compound called jengkolic acid. This compound produces an unpleasant odor like the smell of urine. Although the aroma is not very pleasant, many people like to consume jengkol because of its delicious and savory taste and soft texture.

However, to get soft jengkol , a special processing process is needed. Raw jengkol has a very hard texture, so most people choose to boil it for a long time, even up to 30-40 minutes. To shorten the boiling time, some people also choose to fry jengkol. Although shorter and saves gas, fried jengkol tends not to be soft for long. When it is cold, the texture of jengkol will harden and be less delicious when eaten.

However, there is a trick that can be tried to overcome this problem. YouTube user IRYANG Channel shared a trick through one of the YouTube Shorts videos he uploaded. This trick can keep jengkol soft for a long time.

As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube IRYANG Channel on Saturday (28/9), the trick used is to add one ingredient, namely water when frying jengkol. However, the amount of water used must be considered, yes.

To know more clearly, first heat enough oil in a frying pan. While waiting for the oil to heat up, prepare the peeled jengkol. Don't forget to cut the jengkol into pieces so that it can be tender quickly.

When the oil is hot, add the jengkol. Stir and fry for a while. Then immediately add enough water to the oil. Adding water will cause an explosion in the oil. Therefore, immediately cover the pan and wait until the water has reduced. This process will make the jengkol soft quickly, you know.

The condition of the water that has shrunk can be seen from the oil explosion that begins to subside. If it is like that, open the lid of the pan. Then stir the jengkol so that it cooks evenly.

If the color has changed to brown, it means the jengkol is cooked. Immediately remove, drain, and place on a plate. Now, this jengkol is ready to be eaten as a side dish or processed again with various spices. Guaranteed the texture is soft and will not be tough even though it is cold.
