Brilio.net - Lumpia is one of the popular traditional snacks in Indonesia. Made using crispy skin and various fillings, ranging from vegetables to meat, lumpia is a snack that is loved by many people. Whether as an appetizer, snack, or part of the main menu, lumpia is always an appetizing choice.
However, behind its deliciousness, fried spring rolls have side effects on health. One of them is the high calories in fried spring rolls. The frying process makes spring rolls have a crispy and savory texture, but also causes a significant increase in their calorie content.
The oil used to fry spring rolls will soak into the skin, adding fat and calories to the food. As a result, even though they may look small and light, a few pieces of fried spring rolls can add up to quite a lot of calories, especially if eaten in large portions. This is a concern for people who are trying to maintain a healthy diet or control their calorie intake.
As an alternative, some people usually fry spring rolls in an airfryer. This is considered to be able to make the spring roll texture crispy and perfectly cooked.
However, if you don't have an airfryer at home, you can use the trick shared by Instagram user @sakinahsil when making spring rolls. Through one of the videos uploaded, she admitted to having certain tricks to make spring rolls so that they are perfectly cooked and remain crispy even though they are not fried in a lot of oil. This makes the spring rolls suitable to be eaten as a low-calorie diet snack.
As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @sakinahsil on Thursday (8/15), prepare protein-rich ingredients as the main filling. In the video, Instagram user @sakinahsil uses 10 pieces of white tofu, 3 eggs, and 250 grams of shrimp.

In a chopper, put 10 cloves of red chili, 6 cloves of shallot, and 4 cloves of garlic. Then puree. Once done, saute these ground spices in a pan without adding oil. Saute until fragrant, then add 10 grams of thinly sliced carrots.

Next, stir all the ingredients until well blended. Then add the protein ingredients. Also add the washed bean sprouts, sliced spring onions, pepper, and salt. Then stir again and cook until all the ingredients are cooked.
Once done, pour the filling into the spring roll skin sufficiently. Then fold and cover the spring roll skin using water so that it sticks better. Do this process until the filling and spring roll skin are finished.

Next, prepare a non-stick pan and pour 2 tablespoons of oil. After that, arrange the spring rolls and fry until the skin is really crispy. At this stage, don't forget to turn the spring rolls over so that they cook evenly and don't burn. After that, remove and drain. Now, you can immediately enjoy spring rolls that are crispy and still low in calories.
