Brilio.net - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) insists on registering candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor in the Jakarta Pilkada on August 27 even though the DPR and the government have revised the Pilkada Law. This Pilkada Bill does not follow the Constitutional Court's ruling as it should.
The Legislative Body (Baleg) and the DPR seem to turn a blind eye to the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling. They created their own norms in the Pilkada Bill.
Member of the PDIP Faction Baleg Masinton Pasaribu said that his party will continue to run in the Jakarta gubernatorial election following the Constitutional Court's decision on the requirements for nominating governors and deputy governors . When asked about his candidate, Masinton mentioned one of them, namely Anies Baswedan.
"God willing, Anies will be there," said Masinton as reported by brilio.net from Antaranews.com, Thursday (22/8).

The DPR member said that PDIP will register Anies to the KPU on August 27. He asked for the public's help to oversee the registration.
"So on the 27th, if PDI Perjuangan nominates Mr. Anies Baswedan, we will accompany him together to the KPU Jakarta," said Masinton.
Furthermore, Masinton invited several political parties to join PDIP in registering Anies to the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU). He invited parties that have met the requirements based on the Constitutional Court (MK) decision Number 60 PUU-XXII/2024 regarding the threshold for regional head nominations.
"Other candidate parties that meet the requirements based on the clusters decided by the Constitutional Court are welcome to use them," he requested.
Masinton asked the party not to be afraid of changes to the Pilkada Bill that have been ridden by power. He emphasized that PDIP consistently adheres to the Constitutional Court's decision.
"Let the people be witnesses to fight for democracy which the powers that be today want to kill," he added.
Meanwhile, the DPR Legislation Body together with the government have agreed to bring the Pilkada Law Revision to a plenary session. The decision to rush it was taken in a level I working meeting between Baleg and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Kemenkumham, on Wednesday (21/8).
Baleg Deputy Chairman Achmad Baidowi who led the session invited each faction to convey their mini faction opinions. Of the 9 factions, only PDIP stated that they rejected the bill being brought to the plenary session.

The PDIP faction believes that the revision of the Regional Election Law should be directed as a follow-up to the Constitutional Court's decision regarding new requirements for nominating candidates and age limits in regional elections.
