The rock frontman was found dead in his tour bus.

Brilio.net/en - Scott Weiland, the former frontman for rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died,his Facebook page confirmedearly Friday morning (Dec. 4).

"Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts," a post on Weiland's Facebook page reads. "At this time we ask that the privacy of Scotts family be respected."

Dave Navarro, guitarist and member of Jane's Addiction first broke the news through Twitter; one that was later deleted from his account.

Weiland was in the midst of touring with his newest band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts.

The Bloomington, Minnesota Police Department said they responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male inside a motor vehicle."Officers arrived and determined the adult male was deceased," read the police department's release, which did not identify the deceased.

Born in California, Weiland first formed Stone Temple Pilots with brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo. The band gained success and fame in the 1990s and had their debut album Core
peak at number 3 on the Billboard 200. Their follow up album,Purple, managed to scale all the way to number 1 on the same chart.
