The struggle regarding the ins and outs of being able to go on the Hajj was also felt by Suparmin, a middle-aged man from Sragen. In 2024, he will have the opportunity to leave with his wife Sariyem. Where previously Suparmin had been waiting for decades.
Reporting from kemenag.go.id, this elderly couple struggled to collect rupiah after rupiah just to be able to register. They even did it when they were young. Now Suparmin is 75 years old.
Initially, Suparmin worked as a sugar cane cutter for 5 years. Income from work is not enough to meet his living needs. Never mind registering for the Hajj, just eating every day is quite difficult .

"At that time, it was difficult to even buy cassava (cassava food)," he said, as reported by brilio.net on Friday (7/6).
Because of this, Suparmin tried to think of a way out by looking for a new job. Finally he came to the decision that he change profession as a motorbike taxi driver. From there Suparmin began to be able to collect enough rupiah.
From the results of motorbike taxis , Suparmin can fulfill various needs. Apart from food, Suparmin admitted that at that time he was able to pay for his three children's school fees. Although, he had to work harder by attracting passengers day and night.
Apart from being able to support his family, Suparmin also began to see a big opportunity to register for the Hajj. He felt the need to fulfill the fifth Islamic law. Because of this, little by little the proceeds from motorbike taxis are set aside. His optimism was so strong, he was sure that one day he would be able to set foot in the Holy Land.
"I set aside part of my income to register for the Hajj with my wife," he said.

Because he was serious about his work, the man was finally able to buy a cow. Suparmin thought that perhaps trying a livestock business could increase his fortune. Sure enough, as time went by the number of cows kept increased to 3.
Suparmin decided to sell the 3 cows. Then in 2012, the proceeds from the sale of the cow were used by Suparmin and his wife to register for the Hajj.
"At that time I was very happy. Finally I could fulfill my wish to register for the Hajj with my wife," he said.
After registering, Suparmin's economic conditions increasingly improved. He considered that this was the sustenance that Allah gave him from his blessings in registering for the Hajj. His business grew and he was even able to buy a stall in the market. At that kiosk, he and his wife sell and earn a decent income.
In 2023, Suparmin and his wife decided to perform Umrah. But who would have thought, a year later they would have the opportunity to perform the Hajj.
"A year before I was scheduled to go on Hajj, I found some good fortune and I used it for Umrah with my wife," said the 75 year old man.
"Thank God, this year we can go on the Hajj pilgrimage with our wife to the holy land," he concluded.
