Ten farmers from Kendeng Area of Rembang District, Central Java held a protest in front of the State Palace yesterday.

They cemented their legs in protest at Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowos decision to grant construction permit for PT Semen Indonesia to build a cement factory in their area.

In August 2016, President Joko Widodo has ordered halt for any mining and factory development permit request in Kendeng Area and the Supreme Court has revoked the construction permit of the factory in October 2016. Nevertheless, Ganjar published yet another mining permit on Feb. 23, 2017.

The protest will resume today.

Here are some pictures from yesterdays protest taken by our photographer, Jefri Aries.
