President Joko Widodo has decided that this year’s Idul Fitri national mass leave is started on June 23, 2017.

He signed the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia No. 18 Year 2017 about 2017 Mass Leave today.

The Presidential Decree states that the mass leave for Idul Fitri is on June 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30 and for Christmas in on December 26.

“To reduce (road congestion) so that people have alternative on which day (they are) going [to go to their hometown to celebrate Idul Fitri with family,” said the Chief of Traffic Police Insp. Gen. Royke Lumowa.

The second point of the Presidential Decree states that the addition of Eid al-Fitr mass leave does not reduce the numbers of annual leave of government employees.

“[Their] annual leave would still be 12 days,” said the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reforms Ministry official Herman Suryatman.
