President Joko Widodo finally met former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for a discussion this afternoon at the State Palace/
“Pak SBY wants to meet Pak Jokowi and [his request] was accepted this afternoon by Pak Jokowi,” said the presidential spokesperson Johan Budi to Antara.
SBY has been expressing his intention to meet the sitting president for several weeks and claimed that some people in Jokowi's inner cirlce have been preventing the meeting to happen.
His wish was finally granted today.
“I am excited that I [finally] can explain, he [Jokowi] listened carefully [and] I also listened to him. Thank God, this is a good beginning because it’s not good if there is a miscommunication and misinformation between him and I who once led this country,” said SBY to reporters.
Neither Jokowi or SBY shared what was being 'explained' during the one-hour meeting.
“We talked about several good things related to national politics, economy. It’s called as discussion [because] there are a lot of things [to talk about]," Jokowi said.
Jokowi also answered to SBY's previous allegation about him being prohibited to meet with the former president —it was all about finding a matching schedule.
"Sometimes when I had the time (to meet him), Pak SBY did not have the time time, [and] when he had the time, I had another thing to do. [So] this is the time, it's now."
The meeting ran for an hour today at 12.15 p.m. to 1.15 p.m..
